Ti and Hi, explained
Ti and Hi are the two numbers that describe how a case is palletized. Get them right and every pallet is stable, legal and cube-efficient.
- Ti (tie) — the number of cases in one layer sitting on the pallet footprint. It depends on your case footprint and the pallet size.
- Hi (high) — the number of layers stacked on top of each other. It is limited by your maximum height and by case crush strength.
- Cases per pallet — simply Ti multiplied by Hi. This drives your pallet count, freight class and cost per unit.
PalletDeck computes the best Ti x Hi for your box automatically, then checks the resulting height and weight against your chosen destination.
Ti = cases per layer (footprint fit)
Hi = usable height ÷ case height
Cases / pallet = Ti × Hi
Pallets = total cases ÷ (Ti × Hi), rounded up
Example: a 12×10×8″ case on a 48×40″ pallet with a 60″ usable height gives Ti = 16, Hi = 7, so 112 cases per pallet.

What is a pallet load calculator?
A pallet load calculator works out how to stack your boxes on a pallet. You enter each box's length, width, height and weight, and it returns how many cases fit per layer (Ti), how many layers you can stack (Hi), the total number of pallets you need, and the loaded height and weight of each pallet.

What is the difference between Ti and Hi?
Ti (tie) is the number of cases in a single layer on the pallet footprint. Hi (high) is the number of layers stacked on top of each other. Total cases per pallet equals Ti multiplied by Hi.
Which pallet sizes are supported?
The calculator supports the 48x40 inch GMA / North American pallet, the 1200x800 mm and 1200x1000 mm Euro pallets, and fully custom footprints for warehouse racking or container floors. You can set your own maximum height and weight limits.
